Community Service

MGKF is known for its professional, yet down-to-earth and collegial culture. In addition to encouraging the professional development of our attorneys, technical consultants, and paralegals, we have a strong tradition of encouraging participation in environmental, energy, and other civic programs and community activities outside of the office.

The firm's professionals serve in many capacities such as adjunct professors at law schools; officers and board members of recognized environmental, energy, and community organizations; lecturers and course planners for numerous trial advocacy and other educational programs; and as elected and appointed governmental officials. MGKF professionals are active in the general community as well participating in sporting activities, theater and the arts.

Service Spotlight

Giselle Mazmanian
Board Member of the Armenian Bar Association and Co-chair of the Young Lawyers’ Committee

I began my involvement with the Armenian Bar Association in 2014, fresh out of law school in Canada. I was looking for a network of lawyers to turn to for mentorship, friendship, and business development. Since there was no active local group at the time, I worked on local events and initiatives for years to eventually establish the Ontario chapter of the Armenian Bar Association.

As a result of challenges to Armenia’s territorial integrity in 2020, I leaned in further to the global organization by writing papers, articles, and letters, taking part in interviews, and working on various task forces. That same year I became a co-chair of the Young Lawyers’ Committee, which supports the rising generation of lawyers in both professional development and community building. And in 2022, I was elected to the Board of Governors of the Armenian Bar Association.

This past April 12, 2024, the Armenian Bar Association’s New York/New Jersey/Connecticut tri-state chapter hosted our annual Public Servants’ Dinner at the Yale Club in Manhattan. The dinner was held to recognized two public servants: Hon. Rowan D. Wilson, Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals and the State of New York, and Berge Setrakian, president of the AGBU. The sold-out event was attended by lawyers from across the country, judges of the appellate and trial courts, present and former federal and state prosecutors, and other public servants at the international, national, state and local levels. MGKF was a proud sponsor of this worthwhile event.
