NJDEP Modifies Stormwater General Permit for Asphalt Sector

On March 30, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection issued a major modification to the New Jersey Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit for stormwater discharges from hot mix asphalt facilities. The major modification makes general corrections and clarifications to the permit and gives regulated facilities more time to provide required submissions. It also extends coverage to eligible facilities with stormwater discharges to groundwater (the general permit formerly provided only for discharges to surface water). The major modification was effective on April 1, and will expire on April 30, 2009.
