Biography:

Meredith DuBarry Huston has experience advising clients on issues related to litigation, including class actions, toxic tort claims, challenges to agency action, cost recovery actions, and actions under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act ("CERCLA") and other federal and state environmental laws. In addition to litigation, Meredith has advised clients on a range of environmental matters, including regulatory compliance with federal and state regimes. Her experience includes:
  • defense of toxic tort litigation for personal injury or property damage arising from alleged exposure to hazardous substances;
  • challenges to promulgation of EPA regulatory programs in the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit including the Clean Air Interstate Rule ("CAIR") and the Clean Air Mercury Rule ("CAMR"); and
  • counseling on compliance with remediation and reporting requirements under various state and federal statutes and regulations such as CERCLA and the New Jersey Spill Act.

Prior to joining the firm, Meredith served as a law clerk for the Honorable Thomas N. O’Neill, Jr., U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

In law school, Meredith was articles editor for the University of Pennsylvania Journal of International Economic Law, where she authored Comment, "Wartime Environmental Damages: Financing the Cleanup," 23 U. Pa. J. Int’l Econ. L. 899 (2002). She also served as an Arthur Littleton and H. Clayton Louderback Legal Writing Instructor.
