Biography:

Jonathan Spergel is a partner with Manko, Gold, Katcher & Fox LLP in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, the environmental and energy law firm with which he started his legal career in 1993. He handles a wide variety of environmental legal issues, including the environmental aspects of commercial transactions and brownfields sites, environmental insurance procurement and coverage issues, public funding opportunities for brownfields sites, regulatory compliance counseling, and litigation for commercial, industrial, residential, and individual clients. From September 2001 to February 2003, Jonathan served as general counsel of O'Neill Properties, a regional real estate development company focusing on the redevelopment of brownfields, where he helped to coordinate all legal and environmental services, public funding, and government affairs for the company. Jonathan has authored a number of articles on environmental issues and frequently lectures for various groups and organizations.

Jonathan currently serves on the board of the Lower Merion Conservancy, on which he has served since 2004; Jonathan previously served as chairman of the board from 2007 to 2009. Jonathan also was previously a member of the Board of Trustees of Riverbend Environmental Education Center, located in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania, from 1996 to 2002, and served as president of the board in 2000 and 2001.

 

Jonathan was listed in Pennsylvania Super Lawyer as a 2011 Super Lawyer, a "Rising Star" in environmental law and litigation in 2005 and 2006, and as a "Pennsylvania Lawyers on the Fast Track" by American Lawyer Media in 2005. He has been listed under environmental law in Chambers USA - America's Leading Lawyers for Business since 2006 and in The Best Lawyers® in America since 2007. In addition, Jonathan previously served as editor of the quarterly newsletter of the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Environmental, Mineral, and Natural Resources Law Section
